About the School

The first Noarlunga Primary School building was opened in 1852 and the school was gazetted in 1859. The school will celebrate 150 years in 2009.  The current enrolment is stable (approximately 80 students) and new housing developments indicate possible growth in the coming years.

Our School values are:

  • Respect

  • Responsibility

  • Friendliness

 Our Motto:

‘Small School, Big Heart”

Though small in student numbers and size, the school has a strong sense of family and community. Staff are able to develop strong, trusting relationships with every student in the school through their close interactions with them and students have regular contact with several adults with whom they can form sound, caring relationships. Many parents and community members participate in the life of the school through fundraising activities, offering their expertise in programs such as gardening and dance and assisting with supervision on excursions.

Vision Statement:

Noarlunga Primary School prepares students for effective participation in society by providing a broad and balanced education in a safe, caring, supportive and stimulating environment.

The core business of Noarlunga Primary School is to provide an inclusive, quality education for all students from Reception to Year 7.  This is provided through the teaching of skills, knowledge and understandings within the required areas of study in a supportive learning environment.

Literacy and Numeracy Improvement, Early Years, Being Active and Student Wellbeing are current areas of focus.

Student safety and wellbeing is a major focus.   Our Behaviour Development Policy and processes have recently been reviewed to ensure consistency in Yard and Classroom Management. This is based on the School Values and negotiated Codes of Conduct.

The school supports students through smaller class sizes and a range of programs, such as Letterland, Guided Reading and buddy class activities. All classes are composite in nature and there are currently two Junior Primary Classes (Year R/1 and Year 1/2) and two Primary Classes (Year 3/4 and Year 5/6/7). Special Education Support is provided for students identified as having specific learning needs and School Support Officer hours are also used to support learner programs, such as Speech.

Student Voice is a priority area; with all classes holding regular class meetings and having a representative attend weekly meetings. The SRC plays a major role in increasing student participation and planning events for student involvement such as Dress Up days.

Special activities include Sports Day, BookWeek, Swimming and Aquatics, SAPSASA sporting involvement, excursions and  links with the local community e.g. School Garden.
